Ok! So, for those of you who want to know more about me and my journey into cake decorating, here it goes.
During my high school years, I spent time working at McDonald's. After HS, I started taking a four week Wilton Basic Cake Decorating class. Then, about 2 weeks in, I found I was pregnant. The 3 months of nausea started, ultimately forcing me to stop working at McDonald's as well as, the cake classes. The smell of the icing, along with, the new addition of hash browns cooking in the fry vats at the Golden Arches, made my stomach roll around.
By the time I had my 2nd child, the idea of cake decorating classes was a distant memory. Over the years I've tried many different things. I spent some time with Raleigh products, a little Princess House, and I've been a Shaklee Member/Distributor since before my first child.
Through my working career, I've been back to McDonalds, spent some time at Burger King, then on to a loan company, which moved me into the clerical / administrative field. While working full time at clerical jobs, mostly as a temporary where I worked, and many times requested back, in many different companies around the Triad, I also worked a part time job at 2 different Kmart locations in the area.
In 2010, while spending about 3 days a week visiting the local Hobby Lobby, collecting all the necessary items for bead work, this one particular day, a light bulb went off in my head and a wave of sanity washed over me. My next thought was, "what can I do that people will like/buy?" Then it hit me right in the face, the case at the front of the store that I had glanced over at multiple times, offering cake decorating classes, called my name. I thought, "cake decorating, yes, it's time to get back into the cake decorating classes I started over 30 years ago."
So, here I am, with many cakes, cupcakes, and cookies under my belt, a bunch of new friends, a website, a Facebook presents, and the return of my creative nature.
